The city of Rambouillet lies on the edge of the Rambouillet forest, in the suburbs of Paris.
It is famous for it's historical castle, which hosted several international summits. Rambouillet used to be an occasional seat of government, due to it's proximity to Paris and Versailles.
It is a pretty small town with 26.000 inhabitants, where you can easily find typical French cafés, bars, restaurants and nights clubs. The train for Paris leaves every hour and takes about 30 minutes.
If you intend to stay for more than 4 weeks, it is a good idea to buy a "Carte Navigo" for approx 20€ per week for official transports.

The school has received two quality certificates and is acknowledged by the French ministry of education. It is located inside a castle that was built in 1909 and used to be a baron's hunting castle.
During WW2, the castle was used as Oberleutnant Fritz Van Freherr's headquarters. He visited the castle again after the war, in 1958 - as a student at the language school! The first language class took place in 1950, and today more than 70.000 students from 91 different countries have studied there.
The Castle is surrounded by a large park of 2 acres, at about 800 meters from the railway station and the city center.
There are 5 buildings in the park, with 70 rooms for students, living room and TV-room, a laundry, a restaurant and their own nightclub.
At the library you will find books, CD's and other learning material that you can borrow. The teachers will help you find the best way to use these materials. 25 computers are also available every day until 11pm. There is a Wi-Fi connexion at the school (20€ per month or 10€ per week).
During your stay, you will live with a French host family.
Living with a host family will enhance you French speaking abilities as you will be able to use the vocabulary that you have learned in class.
Our host families are carefully selected and all have experience in receiving non-French speakers. They all live at 10-35 minutes walk from the school. You will stay in a single room and share the bathroom with the family. You do not have to bring your own bed linen, but you should bring your personal toiletries and towel.
During your spare time, you will be able to take part in the activities that are organized by the school.
They vary each week. You could for example visit the city of Rambouillet, go to Paris, Chartres or Versailles, take a walk in the forest, visit a vineyard or local artists. Most activities are free, but for some you have to pay transport and entrance fees. On Saturdays and Sundays you will be able to experience the local market in town.
You may also go for a run in the forest or practice other sports. Near the school you can practice volleyball, soccer or tennis or swim in the local indoor swimmingpool.
