The volunteer programme in Peru !

globalong pérou bénévolat humanitaire globalong

You can learn Spanish and discover Peru off the beaten path by combining a language course with a period of social volunteering. You will live amongst the heart of the people, and experience the culture as you practice the Spanish language whilst giving your time to a worthwhile project.

As a volunteer, you must be mature, open-minded and demonstrate independence and initiative. You must be able to organize your time and improvise, even though the local coordinator is with you before and during your mission.

During the language course, you will receive information and be prepared for your mission, and the local coordinator will explain in detail how the programme works. He is there to ensure that volunteering is a rewarding experience for you and for the institution that receives you.

In general the projects are available all year; only teaching assignments are not available on public holidays and during school holidays.

Our programmes are international, and host participants from around the world.

Volunteer in Peru GlobalongBy participating in the volunteer programme, you will be able to practice Spanish in everyday life and enrich your vocabulary, and also gain experience while participating in the development of a country which knows difficulties, but which is extraordinarily welcoming. We ask all of our volunteers to be respectful and understandable for the duration of their project. If you choose to participate in the volunteer programme in Peru, you will receive a complete guide to the country, the programme, good advice and information before leaving.

Useful information to your volunteer programme

Accommodation with a host family in Peru:

globalong bénévolat au pérou

Host families are part of the Peruvian middle class - taking into account that the standard of living in Peru is lower than in Europe. The families all live within 15 minutes from the school. Each family usually hosts 1-3 students depending on the season.

In most host families, you will share the bathroom. If you want a single room we will do our best to get it. You will have 2 meals a day - breakfast and lunch. In Peru, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Dinner usually consists of some biscuits and coffee. One set of laundry each week will be done by the host family.

You can stay longer if you wish with the host family and if this is in your plans you will be asked to pay the extra costs directly to your host family upon your arrival in Peru. However, if possible, we ask that you arrive the day before the start of the course, and leave the family on the Saturday after the course ends.
