Eco volunteering in the Galapagos Islands - biological station

Biological Nature Reserve in the Galapagos !

Globalong now offers you the opportunity to experience eco-volunteering on the island of San Cristobal in the Galapagos archipelago. This reserve of 200 hectares is located in the hills of the island and offers an extraordinary range of vegetation.

The accommodation is simple, and the programme can accommodate up to 40 people.

The purpose of this programme is to develop new techniques to reconstruct the natural habitat of the island and serve as a model for other reserves located on other islands in the archipelago. A floral research centre was created to produce new species of plants.

Local landowners and the management team from the reserve work together and develop new non-harmful agricultural techniques for vegetation since the invasion of some species threaten the natural balance of the island.

Volunteers will work to restore the biological habitat as well as contribute to the agricultural work of the reserve.

The staff will teach you some work techniques work and introduce you to extraordinary places; lagoons, forests, beaches and surrounding villages so you will be completely aware of the ecological and human dynamics of the archipelago.

Volunteers are hosted in one of the three houses on the reserve, in a double room with a bathroom. Most participants spend an occasional weekend in town where you can find a room in a hostel for about 15 USD a night.

Please note that full board and an extra administration fee will apply to this project (225€ per week). If you join this project, please check the option when you enroll.
