Take care of horses in South Africa!

This volunteer project takes place 20km away from the cities of Kei Mouth and Komga and 60km from East London Airport.

You will have the opportunity to develop new agricultural techniques and discover the south African way of living in a farm. Here, they respect natural agricultural techniques by using their own soil and ecosystem.

For this volunteer programme in Africa, you will not only take care of the animals in the farm but also protect the ecosystem to improve the living conditions and the fertility of the soil.

You can be involved in various tasks such as:

  • Feed the horses
  • Participate in the basic care
  • Use your horse-riding talent to train horses of all ages
  • Maintain the premises
  • Various maintenance tasks in the farm

Non exhaustive example of schedule:



07.30 – 08.30 am

Feed the animals, wash enclosures, take care of the horses

08.30 – 10 am

Horse training

10 – 10.30 am


10.30 am – 1 pm

Riding / wash enclosures, saddle and bridles

1 – 2 pm


2 – 4.30 pm

Help in the garden, in the kitchen depending on the needs. Participants the more experienced will be able to ride during the afternoon

Each Thursday, you will help gardening in a school located next to the farm.

These tasks are non-exhaustive and can change depending on your experience, the period of the year or on the needs of the moment.


You will be accommodated in a volunteer house in the farm. The bedrooms are spacious and the bathroom is shared.

Depending on the period, you will have a single or a shared bedroom.

Sheets and towels will be provided (on request) and you will be able to use the washing machine (approx. 2€ per machine).

The Wi-Fi access is charged 2 euros per 30 minutes.

Minimum age to join the project: 18

Required conditions:

  • Have at least an upper-intermediate level of English (B2 equivalent)
  • Be able to control a horse in an open environment without assistance or training

The programme starts every Wednesday and you will have to arrive the day before.
