Volunteer with Horses on an American Ranch

Volunteer in Mississippi for a life-changing experience!

Discover the wonders of the American South!

Southern Mississippi is only 30 minutes away from the Gulf of Mexico and an hour away from New Orleans, Louisiana! The Mississippi river marks the western border of the state.

The State of Mississippi focuses on preserving its natural and cultural heritage and on developing its arts and crafts.

Music is essential to the locals and plays a major part in their everyday lives. Whether you enjoy blues, rock & roll or country music, you could take the Mississippi Blues Trail or the Country Music Trail to follow in the footsteps of music pioneers such as Albert King, Muddy Waters, Sam Cooke, B.B. King, Charley Pride, Conway Twitty, Faith Hill and Tammy Wynette.

Take the time to discover Mississippi’s national parks and to visit exceptional tourist spots such as the Freedom Trail, a tribute to the men and women of Mississippi who fought for equal civic rights for all in the 1950s and 60s.

Ranch life in the USA - GlobAlongWelcome to a typical American horse ranch in Mississippi!

This ranch is located on a 200 hectares estate and hosts over 80 horses
It has been run by the same family for 5 generations! It is recognised in the equestrian world as a reference in terms of horse training.

This ranch is specialised in the training of Paso Fino horses, a breed originally from Colombia and Puerto Rico.

Horse training programme - GlobAlong

The name of this breed describes their specific gait, meaning “fine step”. This horse breed is very popular in the USA and is commonly used for Western horse riding and equestrian shows.

Volunteers taking part in a programme on this ranch are part of the team and help the staff in the daily running of the centre. The team must make sure that horses are well cared for, fit and that their stalls and the ranch is clean and well maintained. You may take part in renovation work.

You may take part in horse training sessions

Riding backwards - GlobAlong

Some of the horses may need training to overcome various issues and become good mounts, others need training to prepare for equestrian competitions so only qualified members of the team may ride them. Volunteers and visitors (including children with a handicap, within the framework of an equine therapy programme) may ride other horses. You may have the opportunity to ride these horses during their weekly circuit.

If you wish to take horse riding lessons (not included in the programme), feel free to ask!
