Helping people with disabilities

Take care of disabled people in South India !

This program is open to all those who have experience or training in health and social services. Residents in this institution suffer from mental or physical disabilities. You will assist staff, trying to provide a normal daily life for patients.

The staff tries to be as considerate as possible with them, because mental disability requires a lot of patience.

You will be required to listen to the patients and adapt your actions according to each patient. The organization of daily activities is the basis of the work you will do on site.

Example of tasks:

  • Helping patients to use the toilet and dressing residents
  • Help with meals
  • Physical rehabilitation
  • Teaching English
  • South India Globalong VolunteerCreative activities (painting, drawing, singing, music...)
  • Maintenance of premises
  • Gardening
  • Help in the kitchen
  • Housework
  • Daily care of patients
  • Teaching various subjects according to your abilities

Medical tasks (depending on your skills):

  • Individual specialised treatment
  • Keep patient records up to date
