Unlike many Asian countries overbooked because of mass tourism, Vietnam kept its identity.

The population had never changed its way of life since many years.

Make yourself usefull for the population by joining our humanitarian programmes in Vietnam and enjoy an extraordinary time thanks to a cultural and linguistic exchange of quality.

You will live constantly in contact with Vietnamese and will collaborate with recognized NGO in Vietnam.

Hanoi will amaze you because of its ethnic and cultural diversity. Join our volunteers in Vietnam and discovers your life’s purpose.

Volunteering in Asia, discover Vietnam

Femme au Vietnam - Globalong

The volunteer programme begins every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month. You will be greeted at the Hanoi International Airport the day before and you will be taken directly to the accommodation, shared with other volunteers.

To avoid culture shock, you will take part in some cultural and language immersion days, which will save you any awkwardness with the population.

You will also be given details about your volunteer assignment, the conditions of life, the lifestyle and other information. The coordinator remains available in case of doubts or questions.

This will take a few hours per day. The rest of the time you are free to explore Hanoi and its surroundings. During the first week you will participate in a guided tour of the city.

Samiora volunteer vietnam globalongFor educational programmes, if the dates of your placement coincide with Vietnamese school holidays, you can join another project during this time.

It is important to be aware of the local culture and be respectful and understandable, both in your behaviour in the way you dress. Before you leave you will receive a complete guide of the country, the placement, with lots of advice and information.

The projects are all located in Hanoi and surrounding areas. You have the choice between three areas: teaching English or French, social work and local action projects. There is a minimum age for all projects. Most placements can also be adapted as internships.

During the introduction days, volunteers are housed in a house run by the local organization. You will share a bedroom and a western style bathroom with other volunteers.

Only those who stay more than six months can have a single room.

Once you have begun to work you will stay either in the guest house, or you will move nearer to where your project is based.

You will have 3 meals a day, usually traditional Vietnamese dishes, mainly consisting of rice, vegetables and / or meat. Vegetarians will sometimes have to cook for themselves.

Globalong volunteer vietnam The standard of living in Vietnam is very low, and it is important to realize that you will live in the same conditions as local residents. Do not expect luxury.

The coordinator and the team are there to help you throughout your placement.

In addition, our volunteers are supported and guided by a local association "The Volunteers club", formed by young Vietnamese, who regularly come to the central office of Hanoi to facilitate their integration in Vietnamese society.
